We are the church
In Old Town Church, we often remind one another: we are the church. Not our building. Not a time slot on Sunday. Not programs or events. We—the people who have covenanted together in Christ—are Old Town Church.
Paul puts it like this:
“So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” (Romans 12:5)
That means the church isn’t just something you attend—it’s part of your very identity in Christ. When God saves us, He doesn’t just show us mercy; He brings us into His family. Peter reminds us:
“Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” (1 Peter 2:10)
Becoming a Christian means receiving both mercy and a people. We’re not saved to follow Jesus alone; we’re saved into a family.
That’s why partnership (what we call membership) with Old Town Church isn’t just an administrative step. It’s a covenant commitment. It’s saying, “I belong here. I will pray with you, worship with you, give with you, serve with you, and walk with you as we follow Jesus together.”
What Partnership Looks Like
Partnership is never passive. We don’t just receive ministry—we own it together.
Our mission is simple: to help one another know and follow Jesus.
That mission takes shape in real life as we:
Treasure Christ
Grow in the gospel
Care for one another
Serve the church
Give to the mission
Go make disciples
These aren’t just nice words on paper—they’re the shape of our shared life together. And because we are one body, the way each of us lives this out matters. Paul says, “If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together” (1 Cor 12:26).
When we lean into our covenant commitments, the whole church is strengthened. When we neglect them, the whole body feels it. Your presence, prayers, service, and generosity matter more than you may realize. They are the ways Christ builds His people.
Visual identity
So what does this have to do with our new visual identity?
Rebrands can feel superficial if they’re just about fonts and colors. But for us, it’s a family portrait—a visible reminder of who we are and what God has called us to.
Scripture often gave God’s people visual reminders of their identity: banners, memorial stones, even the Lord’s Supper itself. Our new logo serves a similar purpose. It tells the story of who we are as Old Town Church:
The Cross – Christ at the center
The Circle – life in community together
The Ripples – the gospel flowing outward, echoing the fountain of Old Town
The Blue – a color long associated with hospitality and trust
Every time you see it, we hope you’re reminded: we belong to Christ, and we belong to one another.
Living Into Our Covenant
When you put these pieces together, a beautiful picture emerges:
Partnership grounds us in covenant commitment.
Our mission keeps us focused on knowing and following Jesus.
Our rebrand gives us a visual reminder of our identity.
All of these are ways of declaring together: we are Old Town Church.
So here’s the question: How are you living into our covenant together?
Are you praying for one another? Are you present in worship and community life? Are you serving and giving—not out of guilt, but out of joy that Christ has made you His own?
Partnership is one of the greatest privileges Christ gives His people. It’s how His love becomes visible in the world.
“If, then, there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, make my joy complete by thinking the same way, having the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.” (Philippians 2:1–2)
That’s our calling. United in love. Intent on one purpose. A people who treasure Christ and make Him known—together.
Let’s live into that calling with joy, with faithfulness, and with hope. Because Christ Himself is building His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
