About Old Town Church
Old Town Church is a community of people who exist to glorify God by making disciples who grow in the gospel, cultivate community, and live on mission. As followers of Jesus, we pursue lives shaped by the good news — knowing Christ more deeply, belonging to one another more faithfully, and sharing Him more freely with the world around us.
We are the church. Not a building. Not a program. A people — covenanted together in Christ, and sent together into Rock Hill and beyond.
Christ Above All
Old Town Church is all about the gospel: the good news of Jesus Christ.
The gospel is not good advice about what you must do to reach God—it is good news about what God has done to reach you.
At the heart of Christianity is a person: Jesus Christ. He lived the life we should have lived—perfectly loving God and neighbor. And He died the death we should have died—taking upon Himself the judgment our sin deserves. But three days later, He rose from the dead, proving that sin and death do not have the last word.
Through Jesus, God is not merely offering you a second chance—He’s offering you a new identity. By grace, not by your performance, you can be fully accepted and loved by God. When you trust in Jesus, your past doesn’t define you—His righteousness does.
This is not a call to religion but to relationship. A transformed heart, not just improved behavior. Christianity isn’t for the strong—it’s for the weary. Not for the righteous—but for the sinner.
This is the gospel: You are more sinful than you ever dared believe, yet more loved and accepted in Christ than you ever dared hope.
Come and see what this means for your life.
What we value
These convictions shape everything we do at Old Town Church. They are the way our mission takes flesh in everyday life — the rhythms and commitments that define us as a community.
The Gospel.
Everything begins here. The good news that Jesus lived, died, and rose again to save sinners isn't just our starting point — it's our constant source. We return to it again and again, because we never move beyond it. The gospel is what we believe, what we preach, and what we want rooted deeper in our hearts every day.
Scripture.
We trust the Bible as God's word — entirely sufficient, authoritative, and alive. We read it together, study it carefully, and submit our lives to it. It's how God speaks, how we grow, and how we know what's true.
Community.
We weren't made to follow Jesus alone. We commit to real relationships — the kind that know you, pray for you, challenge you, and stick around. This is what covenant partnership is about: not just attending together, but belonging to one another.
Discipleship.
We want to grow — not just in knowledge, but in genuine Christlikeness. That means pursuing ongoing formation through Scripture, prayer, worship, and accountability. We're all at different places in the journey, but we're all moving in the same direction.
Mission.
We are sent people. Every week we scatter into Rock Hill — into neighborhoods, workplaces, and relationships — carrying the gospel with us to our neighbors and to the nations. We love this city, serve its needs, and share its hope: that Jesus saves.
What to Expect
-
We seek to follow consistent aspects of worship each week, such as reading Scripture, taking the Lord’s Supper, and praying. Each service will also conclude with a benediction from Scripture.
-
You can expect music to be a blend of both modern and historical music that seeks to glorify Christ. We seek to sing songs that are biblically faithfully, theologically accurate, and thematically tied to the sermon that morning.
-
We typically preach through whole books of the Bible, walking through consecutive passages each Sunday. Our aim is that each sermon points to Jesus as the ultimate hero, the final fulfillment, and the victorious King of the whole of Scripture. Sermons usually last 35-40 minutes.
-
We take the Lord’s Supper every Sunday in order to remember Christ’s atoning sacrifice and death and our identity as members of one another. This is also a time for repentance and renewal in our commitment to remember our future hope.
-
Come as you are! Wear whatever you are most comfortable in, whether a suit or shorts. Our members and attendees tend to dress casually.
