Sermon Recap: Romans 3:21-26

Glorious Gospel Foundations

Romans 3:21-26

This Sunday, we explored the "Glorious Gospel Foundations" in Romans 3:21–26, seeing how we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. We learned that our appreciation for the gospel grows proportionately with our understanding of God’s holiness.

First, we must have a growing awareness of God’s holiness, which naturally produces a deeper awareness of our own sinfulness. Because "all have sinned," we realize we cannot save ourselves by following rules. This leads us to a "Great Swap": Jesus took the punishment we deserved, satisfying God’s justice while giving us His perfect record as a free gift. By recognizing our desperate need for rescue, we finally see the true beauty of the gospel. This week, let’s be intentional about meditating on God’s holiness and resting in the rescue Jesus provided.

Listen to the Sermon:

Reflection Questions:

  1. How can I be intentional to meditate on God’s holiness this week?

  2. How might a "bigger" view of His perfection change the way you view your daily struggles or successes?

  3. When you feel the weight of your mistakes, do you tend to try harder to "fix" things yourself, or do you immediately look to Jesus and what He accomplished for you? What would it look like to truly rest in His free gift of grace today?
