2:47 Prayer Initiative

What would it look like if our church experienced the same Spirit-filled devotion and gospel movement we read about in the book of Acts? Old Town Church is embarking on a journey to find out.

We're launching the 2:47 Prayer Initiative—a 47-day challenge inspired by Acts 2:42-47, where we see the early church "devoted to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." These believers were unified in purpose, rooted in God's Word, and courageously sharing the gospel. The result? "The Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved" (Acts 2:47).

Two Simple Prayers, Eternal Impact

For the next 47 days, we're inviting every member of our church family to commit to praying two focused prayers each day:

Prayer 1: Salvation – Think of three people in your life who don't yet know Christ. Write their names down and lift them before the Lord daily. Pray for their hearts to be softened, for divine appointments, and for boldness in our witness. Ask God to add to our church family those who are being saved, just as He did in Acts.

Prayer 2: Devotion – Pray for the spiritual health and unity of our church. Ask God to deepen our love for His Word, strengthen our bonds as a faith family, and fill us with worship and wonder at the beauty of Christ. Pray that each of us would faithfully contribute to a Christ-centered fellowship.

How to Participate

Getting started is simple. Pick up a 2:47 Prayer Card this Sunday and write down the names of three people you're praying for. Set a daily alarm for 2:47 PM as a reminder to pray—imagine our entire church family pausing together at the same moment, scattered throughout our community but united in prayer.

Each Sunday, we'll continue this challenge together as a congregation, and we encourage you to share testimonies and encouragement with your discipleship groups as God works.

An Invitation to Expectancy

This isn't complicated—it's intentional: two prayers for forty-seven days. But when God's people unite in prayer with expectant faith, there's no limit to what He can do.

Join us as we seek the Lord together and trust Him to build His church and transform lives for eternity.
